this is kinda cool

I just got tickets to audition for "who wants to be a millionaire" in New York next thursday. If I can scrape together gas/food money, I may go for it. Business is slow so I don't know if it will be happening. It is a dream of mine to kick butt on this show so we'll see. I do have someone to stay with if I go so that isn't an issue. New York is about 7 hours from me. That's alot of gas.

It is only the audition. If I get chosen I would have to go back at a moments notice. My mom thinks I shouldn't spend the money to go. She's really making me feel guilty. No one in my family has a spontaneous bone in their body and NEVER believe in trying something. My hubby says I might as well go to a casino and throw away the money I would be spending, says "it's the same thing". I hate that no one around me thinks anything good can ever happen to me.

I've had pleanty of people close to me not be supportive.. My own hubby said I could never be a groomer when I said I wanted to go to school. Well, bugger him, here I am with his support!
Do what you want to, My Mom was quietly un supportive!! Now, here I am. Ha.
Go for it. Put a few bucks away.. you have a place to stay.. GO FOR IT!!!!!

Yeah, It's a game show. Totally stupid, I know, but I'm soooo good at it. I'm sure it would be different in person but I'd love to try. I think maybe this is one little dream of mine I may have to let slip by.

Julie, I think you should go to the audition. It's not gonna cost THAT much in the grand scheme of things. If you don't go... you'll always have the "what if's" and "if onlys" Don't pass up a once in a life time opportunity.

I agree with the others... go for it. Just wondering if it would be cheaper to fly there?

I'm figuring about $400 to get there and back. I drive a mini van so I want to make sure I have enough fuel. It is a long drive and I'm not good at driving distances so I would take my girls (to keep me awake) and to help navigate. The person we would be staying with has offered to keep my girls while I go into the city. Funny, this woman is an ex girlfriend of my husbands from high school. lol She's part of a large group my hubby still keeps in touch with and get together a few times per year. She designed my shop logo. Any how I would need to leave Wednesday afternoon just to make sure I've got plenty of time. The other thing is that I'm scared about riding the subway and going into NYC by myself. At this moment It doesn't look good though. I know so many think it's silly but not only could my family use the money, if I won lots I would help so many needy animals. That is what I want most of all. To buy a mobile van and groom dogs in shelters.

I send you some xanax for the subway ride,, those are good reasons for wanting to win, people like you DESERVE to win, I bet they interview you and your reasons would come out!!!
Tell me, how does the show work, could you come away possibly with SOME money? Maybe not all, but even some would be worth it!!

I can't imagine NOT taking advantage of this opportunity if there was any way to afford it! If you were selected to be on the show and won anything more than it cost you to get there, you would be ahead and if you didn't win...what a great experience you would have, trying to achieve something toward your dream. How could you consider not going? Silly girl!

That's right!! We'll be your cheerleaders!!! GO, JULIE GO!!!

And, plan ahead for food! Pack a cooler for you and the girls, even if you buy pre-packedged stuff, it would still be cheaper than stopping at convience stores on the way, You don't have to spend a ton of money on food!

What does your hubby think? If he's telling you to go, GO!!!

Thanks guys, I so appreciate your support but I'm not getting any here at home (except from my girls who want to go on a mommy/daughter road trip.lol) It's more than you need to hear but I've got a ton of stress right now so if I don't go that's one less "bill" to worry about. I love you all.

If there is someone who is in a better place than I and would like the tickets to audition, please let me know and I will express them to you.

Julie what about a bus? Have you checked into how much it would be to take a greyhound or something. I know there might be someone who might go with you but you would have to ask her yourself, she was at the other game show you tried out for.

Anita and Lorie you are too kind but if it's meant to be, it will happen. It is not necessary, in these times that are difficult for everyone, to single me out as deserving of assistance, especially for something so unimportant. As my mom says, "it's silly". I received good will in spades when I opened my shop and would never want to accept that kind of graciousness again. There are people (and animals) in this world way more deserving of your generosity. Do I wish I was able to go? Of course because I may never get this chance again. However many people wish for things that just can't be realized all the time. I'm nothing special. Thanks for the thought.

Now you are being hard headed. If we didn't want to help we wouldn't offer. I think its way too cool to see a fellow groomer succeed in any way possible!!! I am asking youd reconsider....I only have till Wed. to get it in the mail so if you change your mind, you know my number and how to get in touch with me. Its like paying it forward in my eyes....I do help others and I also help with homeless pets so its ok to help u too.

Anyone else?? Do I hear another groomer being a supportive fan? I am doing this becasue I think it would be so much fun to coach on a fellow groomer who has a chance a life time.... Time is running out. I widh I could foot the whole thing alone biut with this surgery and all...if anyone would like to e-mail me on this you may do so if you would like to remain annoumous.....
